Construction Safety Glasses for Children

Be sure to include your children in home remodeling or construction projects, whenever possible. It's a great opportunity to teach real-world skills and respect for the hard work of tradesmen they might need to hire someday.

Of course you'll remember important safety equipment like closed-toe shoes and socks, but some items you have in the tool box might not fit -- such as construction safety glasses.

Don't neglect proper safeguards for your child's vision, since a moment's inattention can have drastic results. But construction safety glasses that don't fit properly are nearly as bad as none at all, since they can give a false illusion of safety and cause a distraction that can leads to frustration at best and accidents, at worst.

Try swim goggles as a short-term replacement for real construction safety glasses. They are suitable for minor or small projects where only light protection is needed. Your child probably has these available, is used to wearing them, and knows where they are, so he or she will respond well to the idea of wearing them and will be more likely to keep them on.

With some creative thinking to address safety concerns, children of most ages can safely help with remodeling projects at home by using swim goggles as an alternative to ill-fitting construction safety glasses.
